I’m Jonathan Blood Smyth and I have been collecting English pressed glass on and off for fifteen years or so. I started at a collectors’ fair when I purchased a Greener pressed glass basket and remembered thinking that £22 was quite expensive.
Looking up the basket in a book I found the hitherto undiscovered world of Victorian pressed glass, an endlessly fascinating area, involving history, social change and the Industrial Revolution.
Since then I have developed a particular fondness for the pressed glass creamers and sugar bowls made by Davidson of Gateshead. Many are in plain flint glass but the variety of patterns and neatness of design makes them great to handle and admire.
In real life I’m a physiotherapist and live in Exmouth in East Devon. If you would like to contact me about anything to do with english pressed glass I’d be glad to reply.
When I get the email working from this site you can email me via jonnieATenglishpressedglassDOTcom. That’s to help stop spam but you can work out what the email should be I am sure.
